  24. Did I say that?  No, I didn't.  And I think it is shameful of you to use such
  25. a cheap shot in replying to me.  (and it WAS a VERY CHEAP shot).  This is the
  26. same as asking me "When did you stop beating your wife?"

  28. I will, however, address your comment.

  30. Last time I checked, the most recent sighting of the deity by a large number of
  31. witnesses is of somewhat greater antiquity than the current sightings of
  32. Unidentified Flying Objects.  This is very convenient for your arguments: There
  33. are no witnesses left to interogate.  The only thing we have to go on is a
  34. record left by biased reporters who were eager to place their own
  35. interpretation on events they could not explain.

  37. Even if you wish to make the same assertions in connection with the large group
  38. of scientists who are currently investigating unexplained aerial events, I am
  39. left with the assertion that since the events we study on this network are
  40. either current or of recent ventage, we have a significantly greater
  41. possibility of getting at the truth of what these events really are than do
  42. those who wish to explain it using ancient mythologies.

  44. One of the cornerstones of logical thought is "Age is no argument for
  45. accuracy."  Many of our beliefs were forged at a time when much less was known
  46. than is now known.  If you wish to cling to such a belief, you must be
  47. absolutely certain that no new facts have come to light that call the belief
  48. into question.  This is impossible. Anyone who attempts to explain current
  49. events with ancient philosophy is doomed from day one.

  51. What I'd REALLY like for you to state is what your REAL AGENDA in posting here
  52. is.  If it is to contribute factual information or rational analysis, then
  53. please join us and do so.  If you are here to bible thump, allow me to
  54. recommend any of a dozen fine Christian echos that would love to have your
  55. posts.

  57. I'm still waiting to hear something from you other than unfounded assertions
  58. based on your religious beliefs.  I'm tired of wasting bandwidth on this
  59. business.  Religious discussions ALWAYS end in a flamefest of the "my God and
  60. beat up your God" variety, and have no place in a serious discussion such as
  61. the one we are attempting to carry on.

  79. For all of those wondering about the status of Dr. David M. Jacobs
  80. as ParaNet (sm) abduction moderator, I post the following extracted
  81. from a letter I just received:
  82.  
  83. "...As of now, I am not the ParaNet abduction moderator. The main
  84. problem, as far as I can tell, is that getting a node for me in
  85. Philadelphia has proved to be more difficult than had been thought.
  86. The first one lasted for quite a while, but then something happened
  87. to the fellow's hard disk who was running the node, and that was
  88. that. Another node lasted a very short time, and I am not sure what
  89. happened then, but I noticed that virtually nobody was using the
  90. abduction bulletin board to talk with me. So, my guess is that it
  91. died for lack of interest. Actually, I hope Michael Corbin can re-
  92. establish a node because I thought it was fun while it lasted...

  94.  ...Budd (Hopkins) and I would very much like to have a series of
  95. training conferences around the country, but the pressure of work
  96. (abduction and otherwise) have made that desire seem more and more
  97. like only a dream. Perhaps after my book comes out in March we will
  98. have some more time to put something like that into effect....."
